Mara was dusting off the shelves, a constant battle when one sold crystal pieces which showed every particle of dust. As soon as Marilee stepped through the door, she turned and smiled.

“Hey! What are you doing here? I thought you were taking the day off?”

Marilee smiled back, maybe a bit too brightly, at her store manager. “I was, but something came up and I needed to check on some things,” she explained, then headed into the back storage area. It was nice and calm back here. Peaceful. And an excellent hiding place, she thought, as she opened the laptop that held her inventory info.

For the next several hours, she lost herself in the details of her shop, ordering several new products, helping to stock the items that had just come in, and remotely checking on the warehouse sales, making sure her warehouse manager was able to keep up with the orders that came in via the internet sales catalogues. Right now was a busy time for her shop, since most of her sales came in during the Christmas season. The next busiest time for sales was the spring, which was an excellent time to market things like prisms and window hangings. Anything that celebrated the sunshine after a long, cold winter.
